Terms of Service & Privacy Notice (POPIA)

1. Who we are

Fundi Finder ("we", "us") is a South African online directory that connects consumers with local home-service businesses ("Listings"). This document is our agreement with you and our notice under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").

2. Accounts and listings

  • You must be 18 or older, or have permission from the business owner, to create a listing.
  • One business per user. Each user account may hold one active Featured subscription at a time and a subscription is tied to a single business. Only the business owner may purchase a subscription for their listing.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you publish and for keeping your login secure.
  • We may remove or suspend listings that are misleading, illegal, spammy or unsafe.

3. Payments (PayFast)

Featured subscriptions are billed by PayFast (Pty) Ltd on our behalf. Prices are in ZAR and include VAT where applicable. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.

4. What personal information we collect

  • Account: name, email, phone, password hash.
  • Listing: business name, address, contact details, category, photos, hours.
  • Usage: pages viewed, listings visited, coarse device and referrer data (see section 7).
  • Billing: subscription status and PayFast reference IDs (we do not store card numbers).

5. Why we process it (lawful basis)

  • To provide the directory service and your account (contractual necessity).
  • To display your Listing publicly if you choose to publish it (your consent).
  • To process payments and prevent fraud (legitimate interest / legal obligation).
  • To send you service messages (renewal, disputes, safety). These are transactional and not marketing.
  • Marketing & promotional use — only with your consent. If you opt in on sign-up we may email you tips, product updates and promotions. You can withdraw consent at any time from your dashboard or by emailing us.

6. Sharing

We share personal information only with processors that help us run the service: our hosting and database provider, PayFast for payments, Google Maps for geocoding of listing addresses, and email infrastructure. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Site analytics & listing views

We record aggregated listing page-view counts so business owners can see how much traffic their listing gets. Where possible we store only counts and coarse metadata (referrer, day), not identifying information about visitors.

8. Your POPIA rights

You have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct or delete it;
  • object to processing (including direct marketing);
  • withdraw consent at any time;
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

9. Security & retention

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, hashed passwords, row-level security in the database, restricted storage buckets). We keep account and listing data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for audit and legal reasons.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be highlighted on this page and, where appropriate, by email.
